This house is near the Makata shrine (Makata jinja) and stands on a pathway off Sogo-kaido road (Route 464 / Sogo kyutaku iriguchi bus-stop). Even today, Sogo the sixteenth lives in the house and keep Sogo's memorial tablet and ancient documents. This house is open to the public thanks to Mr.Kiuchi's generosity. The spout of an iron kettle steams as it hangs from a pot hook over the open fire.
This house was built in 'Kanoko-date' (antique style from the Edo period). It has no underground foundations and is built standing on stone slabs.
