This natural park was built on the remains of Sakura castle, built during the Edo period. Inside the park is Ubagaike pond with its tragic legend, Meoto(husband and wife) Mokkoku trees which are prefectual natural monuments and a dry moat reminds visitors of how Sakura castle once looked. Tea ceremonies are held for visitors at the Sankei-tei, tea room on holidays.
The park's most popular season is the cherry blossom season. The ruins of the castle's keep are surrounded by lawns. They are a popular avenue for those who enjoy the cherry blossoms. At the beginning of summer when the park is at its greenest (June), the Iris fields are filled with blooms.
