Narita Jidai-emaki illustrated story (Gorisho festival)

This festival started in 1995 and is held in temple town during the late fall. It was the idea of store keepers and is backed by the Narita Chamber of Commerce and Industry. It is an illustrated historical story.

On the day, the Omote-sando street (the front approach) to the temple is a pedestrian precinct. People wearing the costumes of famous Narita characters walk around Omote-sando. Eighty performers wearing the traditional clothes of a Kabuki actor Ichikawa Danjuro, Kancho Sojo the monk, the Ono group and Itto style samurai parade and lottery tickets known as Tomikuji are sold in the shopping center.
