An invitation to a world of mystical beauty

Takigi-Noh Photo

The first Takigi-Noh is performed after the sun has sunk below the horizon and the temples are shrouded by the evening darkness. Two bonfires are lit to illuminate the stage and are positioned between the audience and the performers. The atmosphere is boosted by music coming from the stage and the swaying flames add emotional expression to the Noh masks, transporting the audience into a world of mystical beauty.
