Narita city is about 214 square kilometers in area with a population of approximately 120,000 (2006 survey) . It's located in the north of Chiba Prefecture,divided from Ibaraki Prefecture by the Bando Taro (Tone river) rapids. To the west lies Lake Imba and to the south-east lies the Hokuso plains with its many golf courses and peanut fields.
Narita city has two hearts within its rich natural environment of water and greenery. The tranquil heart is Naritasan Shinshoji temples which are paid homage to by many visitors all-year-round. Then there is the heart of action, Narita airport, considered to be the sky-gateway of Japan.
